Gulf Coast Rebuilding Challenge
What is it? How does it work? What are the next steps?
The $1 Billion Gulf Coast Rebuilding Challenge is an initiative to channel capital into the Gulf Region simply by depositing funds in FDIC-insured, interest-bearing CDs.

Corporations and other participating depositors will help rebuild the region by supporting those closest to the rebuilding effort – local community banks.
Participants pledge to deposit $1 million, $3 million, or $5 million for five years through an eligible Gulf area community bank.

The funds are placed in CDs at multiple banks using the CDARS® service to make the full amount eligible for FDIC insurance.

Thirty-five community banks are currently eligible to receive and place Challenge deposits.
